I thought it funny they would be saying "prepare" back in the 1970's and it's been 40 years since then....and they've been saying it for longer.....why?
|here a little, there a little....|
First, however, it dawned on me that church leaders telling us to prepare, and specifically how is a sign of the true church.
Well, if you consider what Christianity believes regarding the apocalyptic events of the last days, then for the Lord's messengers to deliver a message repeatedly in line with those beliefs and prophesies is an affirmation that the church is guided by the same spirit that inspired the prophetic warnings in the first place.
But more than that, I realized "preparing" isn't done over night, no more than repenting is. Preparation is an intergenerational - cross generational affair. The preparation is not only for the apocalyptic, cataclysmic events no more than repentance serves only at the judgement bar.
"If ye are prepared ye shall not fear." Well, confidence is one blessing of emergency preparedness, comfort, inspiration.....lots of blessings to be had that are necessary for us to be our best selves and be blessed fully to the fullest extent.
But more than this, emergency preparedness is its own type of parable, perhaps much like "living within our means" and surprising our appetites, adding oil to our lamps.....the Psalms tell us to consider the ways of the ant and to be wise like her.
Well, emergency preparedness is a type of putting off the natural man and requires foresight, inspiration, diligence and planning....
At any rate, I just thought I'd write that I didn't realize that emergency preparedness is a sign of the true church, in line with the scriptures as well as brings spiritual blessings.
