Politics and Power In the Last Days

I try not to wade into politics on my blog, but I'm going to go wading just a bit and share a bit of inspiration that I know to be true and some insight from our world today.
beautiful place to wade into politics....

I am not advocating a course of action for anyone, but will say I have left politics and no longer side with a political party anymore.  I felt like the party that I supported no longer represented my values and was not doing their part that they were responsible for to preserve liberty and justice and had become corrupt.  I could no longer support them and did not want my name associated with them.

Instead of politics and relying on governments for liberty, I have chosen to side with the Lord.

One of the things we have to realize is that it isn't politicians, it isn't documents, it isn't laws, political parties, organizations or governments that give us freedom.  It is the Lord.  17 ...where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (2 Corinthians 3).

So when we see organizations that say "Join us!" but they don't adhere to the commandments of the Lord, or they don't know the commandments of the Lord though they tout them, they aren't going to have the desired outcomes that they promise their followers.  The stone cut out of the mountain without hands seen in Daniel has happened.  Now, political parties cry for adherents and support and money and yet, they are blind leaders of the blind.

1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. (Psalms 127).

I feel that the words of the Lord to Joseph Smith during the first vision could (I'm not saying do it) well apply to the politics of our day: 19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.” (Joseph Smith History).

My personal belief is that there is no party that has the authority to speak on behalf of the Lord, and those that deny Him or try to build around Him are actually setting themselves above him.  I see political parties turn on their own, vying for power and there are very few who I believe to be "good men" or even inspired or enlightened men anymore.  It is principles I agree with more than parties, but it is not hard to see what is happening in our world is not inspired by God.  As for me, I stick by Doctrine and Covenants section 134 on my views of government and religion.  But the simple fact is, if men and governments keep doing what they are doing, they are going to destroy themselves before any outside power can do it for them.
